Schering-Plough Pays Government $435M

Law360, New York (August 29, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The U.S. Justice Department announced Tuesday that Schering-Plough Corp. will pay $435 million to settle charges of Medicaid fraud and improper marketing of drugs.

Under the agreement, the health care company’s subsidiary Schering Sales Corp. will plead guilty to one count of conspiracy to make false statements to both the Food and Drug Administration and the Health Care Financing Administration and pay a $180 million criminal fine.
