Kazakhstani Center To Use English Law For Arbitration
Law360, New York (June 28, 2017, 5:43 PM EDT) -- The head of a financial services center in Kazakhstan's capital city of Astana recently met with a former chief judge for England and Wales to discuss how to apply English law to the Astana International Financial Centre's courts and arbitration center.
In a statement issued Monday, the AIFC announced that its governor, Kairat Kelimbetov, met earlier that day with the Rt. Hon. Lord Harry Woolf, a former lord chief justice of England and Wales. Woolf and Kelimbetov discussed issues regarding the creation and development of the AIFC courts and arbitration center based on English common law, the center said.
