Ohio Rep. Pushes Tax Credits For CERCLA Cleanups

Law360 (March 27, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- An Ohio congressman has introduced legislation in the U.S. House of Representatives that would provide tax incentives for property owners liable for environmental cleanup costs under the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation and Liability Act.

Rep. Michael Turner, R-Ohio, on Wednesday put forth the America's Brownfield Cleanup Act, which would amend the Internal Revenue Code of 1986 to allow tax incentives for remediating land contaminated with hazardous waste. The bill was referred the same day to the House Ways and Means Committee.
