Federal Circuit Remands Intergraph's Patent Suit Vs. Intel

Law360, New York (February 12, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- The U.S. Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit on Wednesday dismissed a patent infringement ruling against Intel in a high-stakes dispute with Intergraph Corp., a move that lets the chip maker avoid a $100 million penalty.

In its ruling, the federal appeals court in Washington, D.C. vacated the lower court’s decision and remanded the case to a district court to again determine whether there was any infringement of Intergraph's patents, but under a revised construction of the claim.
