Ford Loses Bid For Rehearing In Challenge To Versata Patents

By Matthew Bultman (July 7, 2017, 5:38 PM EDT) -- The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Thursday stood by its decision not to review several Versata patents that were challenged by Ford Motor Co., rejecting the automaker's argument that it misinterpreted legal precedent surrounding the inter partes review time-bar.

The board denied Ford's request for a rehearing in cases involving six Versata Development Group Inc. patents for automotive software. The patents are part of an ongoing legal fight in which Versata claims Ford stole its patented technology and used it to develop its own software system.
