Nonunion Dock Workers Win $12.9M In Lost Pay

Law360 (August 31, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Ending a long-running class action dispute over unfair wages, nonunion dockworkers scored a victory on Tuesday when West Coast marine terminal operators agreed to shell out $12.9 million to settle charges that the workers were being shortchanged on their hours and paychecks.

The settlement received preliminary approval earlier this month from Los Angeles County Superior Court Judge Victoria G. Chaney, with notices alerting the workers to the details of the agreement sent earlier this week.
