Valve Cos. Owe Man For Deadly Asbestos Cancer, Jury Holds

By Daniel Siegal (August 3, 2017, 9:57 PM EDT) -- A South Carolina jury on Thursday held that a former power plant employees's mesothelioma was caused by the negligence of two companies that made thousands of asbestos-containing valves, but awarded the man just $200,000, well short of the millions in damages he sought.

At nearly 9 p.m., following several hours of deliberations, the jury returned with a verdict in favor of husband-and-wife plaintiffs Beverly Dale Jolly and Brenda Jolly, finding that defendants Fisher Controls International LLC and Crosby Controls International LLC were negligent and had breached their implied warranty on asbestos-containing valves used in the power plants where Dale Jolly worked....
