E.U. Court Clears Three-Dimensional Marks

Law360 (February 12, 2004, 12:00 AM EST) -- Three-dimensional packaging can be registered as a European trademark if the shape is integral to the retail product, the European Court of Justice has ruled.

The court ruled on Thursday that a bottle marketed by German manufacturing conglomerate Henkel could be filed as a trademark because the liquid detergent can only be packaged in a three-dimensional form.
