Health Systems Face Meal Break Class Actions

Law360 (April 2, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The University of Pittsburgh Medical Center, West Penn Allegheny Health System Inc. and Pittsburgh Mercy Health System Inc. are among a slew of defendants named in three putative class actions that accuse the health systems of violating federal wage-and-hour and racketeering laws.

The lawsuits against UPMC and West Penn Allegheny were filed Wednesday, and the suit against Pittsburgh Mercy was filed Tuesday in the U.S. District Court for the Western District of Pennsylvania.
