Canada's High Court Rules On Parallel Class Actions

Law360, New York (April 3, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Tackling questions raised over the management of parallel class actions in multiple Canadian provinces, the Supreme Court of Canada has rejected a bid by Canada Post Corp. to get a class action settlement recognized in Quebec as it has been in other provinces.

Canada's highest court dismissed the appeal filed by Canada Post Corp. in a ruling handed down Thursday, largely agreeing with the ruling of the Quebec Court of Appeal that the settlement could not be applied to Quebec residents.
