Lutron Takes Dimmer Switch Patent Suit To ITC

Law360 (April 8, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Light-switch maker Lutron Electronics Co. Inc. has filed a complaint against Universal Smart Electric Corp. with the U.S. International Trade Commission, accusing the California-based company of importing dimmer switches that infringe two of Lutron's patents and one trademark.

The complaint, filed Tuesday, alleges that USE imports switches that infringe U.S. Patent Numbers 5,637,930 and 5,248,919, along with U.S. Trademark Number 3,061,804. Lutron has asked the commission to begin an investigation under section 337 of the Tariff Act of 1930.
