Deals Rumor Mill: Toshiba, Cornerstone OnDemand, Axa

By Benjamin Horney (September 14, 2017, 5:16 PM EDT) -- Apple Inc. may team with Bain Capital Private Equity LP on a bid to buy Toshiba Corp.'s sought-after memory chip business, with Bloomberg reporting late Wednesday that the company behind the iPhone is in talks to pledge roughly $3 billion toward an offer. According to the report, Apple joins Dell Inc., Seagate Technology and SK Hynix Inc. as financial supporters for Bain's bid, which is also backed by Innovation Network Corp. of Japan and Development Bank of Japan Inc. The report followed Toshiba's announcement Wednesday that it has entered into nonexclusive negotiations to sell Toshiba Memory Corp. to the Bain-led group, to the dismay of Western Digital Corp. TMC is reportedly worth $18 billion or more....
