SAP Named In Patent Suit Over Business Software

Law360, New York (September 6, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- German business-software giant SAP AG has been sued for patent infringement in the United States by i2 Technologies Inc., a smaller U.S. company that helped to develop supply chain management software.

In the lawsuit, Dallas-based i2 asserted seven patents for the software, which handles procurement and supplier networks. I2 helped create the niche market, but it came to be dominated by SAP and other business-software giants.
