Expert Testimony Blocked In St. Croix Class Action

Law360, New York (April 15, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has blocked the testimony of four expert witnesses who sought to link St. Croix islanders' injuries to spillage of red mud, as a 10-year-old class action accusing aluminum refiners of liability in connection with the ravages of Hurricane Georges makes its way through court.

District Judge Harvey Bartle III on Monday granted Alcoa Inc.'s and other defendants' motions to exclude the testimony of expert witnesses who testified as to purported injuries in the U.S. District Court of the Virgin Islands.
