Lucent In Trouble With The SEC

Law360, New York (September 7, 2006, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Lucent Technologies Inc. disclosed Wednesday that it may face charges from the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission over its China operations.

In a filing with the SEC, the telecom equipment supplier said it expected to soon receive a Wells notice, which advises recipients that the SEC has preliminarily decided to recommend an enforcement action.

The notice gives Lucent time to respond to the SEC in an attempt to resolve the matter, which resulted from a previously disclosed investigation.
