Stanford Wants 5th Circ. To Weigh In On Asset Freeze

Law360, New York (April 20, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- Billionaire banker Robert Allen Stanford, who is accused of running an $8 billion Ponzi scheme, is appealing a district court's decision to hand his companies over to a receiver and freeze his assets.

In a notice filed Monday in the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of Texas, Stanford says he will appeal the court's Feb. 17 order appointing Ralph Janvey as receiver for his companies and a March 12 order freezing his assets to the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit....
