Steelworkers Seek To Cap Chinese Tire Imports

Law360 (April 21, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- The United Steelworkers union has filed a Section 421 trade case with the U.S. International Trade Commission seeking to more than halve the imports of consumer passenger tires from China in order to stave off further job losses and increase market share for American tire makers.

The petition filed Monday proposes that the quota, which would return Chinese tire imports for passenger cars, light trucks, minivans and sport utility vehicles to a 2005 level of 21 million, increase 5 percent a year over three years....
