Medtronic, Others Beat Catheter IP Suits With TC Heartland

Law360, Los Angeles (November 7, 2017, 7:52 PM EST) -- A Wisconsin federal judge on Tuesday tossed suits against Medtronic, Boston Scientific Corp. and others over alleged infringement of a cardiac catheter patent, finding none of the defendants had a regular place of business in the district as required by the U.S. Supreme Court’s TC Heartland decision.

Imran Niazi, an electrophysiologist practicing in Milwaukee, had sued St. Jude Medical SC Inc., Boston Scientific, Biotronik Inc. and Medtronic Inc. for allegedly infringing U.S. Patent 6,638,268 by manufacturing, selling or offering to sell catheters for diagnosing heart disease...
