US, Insurer Zurich Back At It Over Presidio Cleanup

Law360, New York (April 24, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- After an unsuccessful go at mediation, the U.S. government and Zurich Insurance Co. are continuing to duke it out over the mounting costs of cleaning up the Presidio, part of San Francisco’s Golden Gate recreation area.

On Thursday, Judge Maxine M. Chesney of the U.S. District Court for the Northern District of California extended litigation deadlines after attorneys with the U.S. Department of Justice and Zurich failed to reach an understanding in mediation over roughly $1 million spent cleaning up the former military base.
