Fired DLA Piper Atty Can't Nix Firm's Arbitration Win

By Melissa Daniels (November 14, 2017, 3:44 PM EST) -- A California state judge confirmed an arbitration award in favor of DLA Piper in a former employee's wrongful termination and discrimination suit Tuesday, saying that the court doesn't have discretion to decide whether the arbitrator improperly denied the attorney an opportunity to bring in certain evidence.

Patricia Higuera Stout had petitioned the court to vacate the arbitrator's award that found DLA Piper did not fire her back in 2015 for any discriminatory or retaliatory reasons. She claimed the arbitrator wrongfully limited her depositions, witnesses and "me too" evidence.
