NJ Gov.-Elect Taps Ex-Debevoise Atty As Chief Counsel

Law360, Newark (November 14, 2017, 3:54 PM EST) -- New Jersey Gov.-elect Phil Murphy on Tuesday named a former Debevoise & Plimpton LLP attorney to be his chief counsel, tapping a lawyer who has been active in Democratic politics in the state and across the country.

Matt Platkin, whose practice at the firm focused on criminal and regulatory investigations, will join the upcoming administration after recently serving as policy director for Murphy's gubernatorial campaign. Murphy, a Democrat, beat Republican Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno on Nov. 7 to succeed Gov. Chris Christie, a two-term GOP governor....
