Overseas Tipster Nets $4.1M SEC Whistleblower Award

Law360, New York (December 5, 2017, 8:09 PM EST) -- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission on Tuesday said it would be paying out $4.1 million to an overseas tipster who helped the agency bust vast and long-running securities violations at their former company.

As usual, the agency did not identify the whistleblower or the case they helped bring, but it did note that the individual worked for the company where the violations took place and continued to help the SEC throughout its investigation. The agency also acknowledged that the tipster was not a U.S. citizen...
