Fired NY Staff Lawyer's Retaliation Claims Survive

Law360, New York (April 30, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A federal judge has tossed discrimination, unlawful termination and breach of contract claims in an attorney's $10 million lawsuit against New York state, but the judge let stand claims of retaliation.

The retaliation claims, made in the U.S. District Court for the Southern District of New York, were made in connection with the plaintiff's accusations that disciplinary cases against New York attorneys with political connections were papered over in a practice known as “whitewashing.”
