Schwarzenegger Fights To Juice Up Smart Grid Plans

Law360, New York (May 4, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- California Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger is urging the federal government to raise the cap on grants utilities can receive for smart grid projects so that larger California companies can craft more ambitious proposals.

In a letter to U.S. Secretary of Energy Steven Chu, Schwarzenegger suggested modifications to the smart grid funding guidelines set forth in the American Reinvestment and Recovery Act of 2009, including lifting the current $20 million cap to encourage more smart grid projects and more collaboration.
