Calif. High Court Ends Insurers' Contribution Spat

Law360 (May 5, 2009, 12:00 AM EDT) -- A Fidelity & Guaranty Insurance Co. policy was excess to a Sentry Select Insurance Co. policy, California's highest court has ruled, marking a victory for Fidelity & Guaranty some 10 years after an auto crash that generated a $600,000 personal injury settlement and a fight over who should fund it.

But in light of changes made to California law in 2006, the ruling, requested by the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Ninth Circuit, is of limited precedential value, the California Supreme Court said Monday....
