Trump Admin. Urges Broad Easing Of Health Laws

By Jeff Overley (December 3, 2018, 9:13 PM EST) -- The Trump administration published a sweeping health care manifesto Monday that criticized the ubiquity of comprehensive health insurance and recommended a wide-ranging relaxation of state and federal laws in order to strengthen competition and bring down prices.

In a 119-page report, the administration trained fire on fundamental aspects of the American health care system, including a general preference for comprehensive coverage in most types of health insurance. According to the report, generous benefits offered by employers, Medicare, Medicaid and the Affordable Care Act have greatly reduced incentives for consumers to shop for value, thereby driving up costs.
