The board of directors at Dell Inc. has received a shareholder demand letter asking that the board investigate allegations made in securities lawsuits against current and former officers and directors and the company’s auditor PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP, the personal-computer maker disclosed Thursday.

A federal judge has tossed a consolidated shareholder class action alleging Dell Inc., its top brass and PricewaterhouseCoopers LLP schemed to defraud investors, ruling that the plaintiffs failed conclusively to meet pleading standards.
