Brokerage NRP Financial Inc. agreed Friday to pay $1 million to the receiver cleaning up after Crown Forex SA's $190 million Ponzi scheme, settling claims it should have known an NRP registered representative was funneling money into the scheme.

A Minnesota federal judge on Monday shut down a former Crown Forex SA principal's bid to toss the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission's suit accusing him of taking part in a scheme that bilked investors out of $84 million.
