Sharp, Intellect Wireless Settle Patent Dispute
Intellect Wireless Inc. has settled a patent infringement suit it lodged against Sharp Corp. in Illinois federal court more than three years after a federal judge found that the owner of the intellectual property-focused firm lied to the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office to obtain the patents in suit.

Niro Haller Attys Settle Fees In Dell, HP Patent Dispute
Two attorneys who helped sue Sharp Corp., Dell Inc. and others in patent litigation despite knowing the inventor lied to obtain the patents have reached settlements with some or all of the defendant companies, according to an Illinois federal court docket entry Thursday.

CORRECTED: Dell, HP Win Fees As IP Firm Niro Haller Sanctioned Again
Niro Haller & Niro Ltd. attorneys on Tuesday were again slapped with sanctions for representing an inventor they knew lied to obtain patents, with an Illinois federal judge ordering the attorneys liable for fees Sharp Corp., Hewlett-Packard Company and Dell Inc. incurred defending the suit. Correction: An earlier story incorrectly implied Joseph Culig was sanctioned and incorrectly stated that Culig currently represents Intellect Wireless and is currently an attorney at Niro Haller & Niro Ltd. The errors have been corrected.

Dell Says Sanctions Motion Against Patent Firm Was Timely
Dell Inc. urged an Illinois federal court on Friday to sanction intellectual property law firm Niro Haller & Niro Ltd. for allegedly filing a wireless messaging patent suit while knowing all along the underlying patent was invalid, saying the firm's argument that the sanctions motion was filed too late is bunk.
