A New York federal judge on Friday dismissed auditors Ernst & Young LLP and KPMG LLP from a putative securities class action arising from Argus Group Holdings Ltd. and Tremont International Insurance Ltd.'s investments with fraudster Bernard L. Madoff.

Massachusetts Mutual Life Insurance Co. and its subsidiary Tremont Group Holdings Inc. agreed Friday to settle a class action brought over losses on the insurers' investments with fraudster Bernard L. Madoff for $100 million.

New York Life Insurance Co. has asked to be dismissed from a suit filed by a former Wachovia Corp. executive who lost money after buying a $6.4 million policy from the insurer that was subsequently invested in funds that invested with convicted Ponzi schemer Bernard Madoff.
