Novartis Gets No Fees Despite 'Exceptional' Patent Case
A Maryland federal judge on Tuesday refused to grant Novartis Corp. attorneys' fees in an "exceptional" patent infringement case brought against it by a defunct nonpracticing entity in multidistrict litigation, saying the company failed to properly justify its request.

A Maryland federal judge awarded Novartis Corp. attorneys' fees Wednesday in a patent infringement suit brought by defunct Webvention LLC, holding that Webvention unnecessarily dragged out proceedings after its patent's claims were rejected by the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office.
