A Delaware bankruptcy judge on Thursday approved an auction date and bid procedures for film effects company Digital Domain Medial Group Inc. to sell its rights to certain movies and property, some of which are disputed by The Walt Disney Co. and Marvel Entertainment LLC.

A Delaware bankruptcy judge agreed Monday to approve the sale of Digital Domain Media Group Inc. to a joint venture of Chinese and Indian media companies after they agreed to pay nearly $37 million for most of the special-effects house's assets at a Friday auction.

Digital Domain Media Group Inc., creator of special-effects for "Titanic" and "Transformers," got the go-ahead from a Delaware bankruptcy judge Thursday to proceed with its "unprecedented" sale schedule calling for an auction and sale hearing within weeks of the Chapter 11 filing.
