A slew of banks and mortgage-servicing companies, including Bank of America Corp. and JPMorgan Chase & Co., on Tuesday asked a federal judge to shoot down two False Claims Act suits that allege they engaged in illegal residential foreclosure robosigning, arguing the plaintiff isn't really a whistleblower.

A whistleblower who has already received $18 million for her investigations into the residential foreclosure practice known as robosigning has targeted Deutsche Bank National Trust Co., American Home Mortgaging Servicing Inc., and more than two dozen banks and mortgage servicing companies for allegedly engaging in the practice, according to two related complaints unsealed Friday.
