The D.C. Circuit handed the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency another big appellate victory on Friday by upholding federal air quality standards for soot pollution, finding that the EPA acted reasonably and properly considered scientific evidence while crafting the rule.

The U.S. Environmental Protection Agency told the D.C. Circuit on Friday that the agency properly considered recent scientific data as well as negative public input when it raised federal air quality limits for soot, fighting back against an industry challenge to the new national ambient air quality standards.
