The Patent Trial and Appeal Board on Monday struck down numerous claims from a hybrid vehicle patent Ford has been accused of infringing, concluding that prior art renders the technology at issue obvious.

Ford Motor Co. was hit with a suit Wednesday by a developer of hybrid vehicle technology in Maryland federal court alleging the automaker infringed several of the company's patents after turning down a potential business partnership with the patent owner.
