A Maryland federal judge on Wednesday dismissed a suit brought by Chevron USA Inc. against Apex Oil Company Inc. and a subsidiary after a settlement was reached over allegations that a Baltimore petroleum pipeline leak forced Chevron to spend more than $30 million on remediation.

A Maryland federal judge on Tuesday completely dismissed Apex Oil Co. Inc. from a $30 million Chevron USA Inc. suit over the cost of cleaning up an oil pipeline spill, and trimmed several claims against an Apex subsidiary.

Apex Oil Co. Inc. should be dismissed from a $30 million Chevron USA Inc. suit disputing which company is responsible for paying certain oil leak cleanup costs, as it can't be held accountable for its subsidiary's pipeline, the company told a Maryland federal judge on Tuesday.
