Global coating company American Polymers Corp. pressed a California federal court last week to free it from litigation over the cleanup of a contaminated industrial site outside Los Angeles, arguing that a $55,000 deal it cut with some of the claimants bars the remaining allegations.

A group of chemical and energy companies has filed suit in California federal court to force dozens of other companies to contribute to the cleanup of hazardous substances at a former steel drum reconditioning operation located outside of Los Angeles.
