Pa. Natural Gas Co. Hit With Worker Misclassification Suit

Law360 (September 13, 2018, 8:50 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania energy company stiffed oil and gas workers on overtime by classifying them as independent contractors even though they lacked the autonomy required for such status, according to a proposed class and collective action filed in Pittsburgh federal court Wednesday.

The lawsuit against EdgeMarc Energy Holdings LLC claims the Canonsburg, Pennsylvania-based company classified plaintiff James Larsen and other workers like him as contractors despite their lack of independence, which Larsen said violated the federal Fair Labor Standards Act, along with Pennsylvania and Ohio laws.
