Vitamin Shoppe Hit With Class Suit Over Enzyme Claims

Law360, Washington (March 27, 2014, 4:47 PM EDT) -- Nutritional supplement company Vitamin Shoppe Inc. is adding a negligible amount of a digestive enzyme to its whey protein products and falsely claiming that it will help in the absorption and digestion of protein, according to a new class action suit filed in Florida federal court on Wednesday.

Proposed lead plaintiff Junior Hermida claims the company adds the digestive enzyme Aminogen to its dietary supplements and boasts about the ingredients’ protein-absorbing power. But Vitamin Shoppe doesn’t disclose that there isn’t enough of additive in their products...
