Status Conference
Clerk's Minutes for telephonic Status Conference held before Magistrate Judge Jerry H. Ritter on 7/1/2026. Conference was attended by Plaintiff's attorney Christopher Cardenas, Home Depot's attorney Karen Alvarado, and Allegion's attorney Justin Goodman. Mr. Goodman will file a notice of his appearance in the case today; Susan Barela is no longer with the law firm. Plaintiff and Continental announced on April 24th that they settled their dispute; Plaintiff and Continental are hereby ordered to submit closing documents no later than July 31st. All remaining parties are hopeful for settlement at the 7/15 Zoom conference. Counsel are responsible for setting up their own Zoom conference rooms and sending log-in information to Judge Ritter at his proposed text inbox so that he will be able to connect to each individual room as needed. Judge Ritter will connect to Plaintiff's room at 9 a.m.; Home Depot should be ready for Judge Ritter to connect by 9:30 a.m.; Allegion should be ready by 9:45 a.m. The conference is nominally scheduled to last until noon but will continue as needed if the negotiations are making progress; all participants should be available beyond noon. See the settlement conference order 156 for all conference requirements. Allegion has not provided a written counteroffer but Mr. Goodman will work on that today. Confidential settlement position statements are due to Judge Ritter's proposed text inbox no later than July 8th. Judge Ritter will place confidential calls to individual attorneys on July 13th: to Mr. Cardenas at 10 a.m.; to Ms. Alvarado at 10:30 a.m.; and to Mr. Goodman at 11 a.m. Judge Ritter's staff will contact counsel beforehand to obtain a preferred contact phone number.
