MINUTES for proceedings held before Magistrate Judge Thomas P LeBlanc: A STATUS CONFERENCE was held on 9/9/2024. Participating by telephone were: John Lee Hoffoss, Jr., for plaintiffs and Laura Len Pousson for defendants. All counsel advised they are ready for trial. Counsel for plaintiff alerted the court that he has another matter set for trial in Cameron Parish, Louisiana, the same week as this matter, and the state-court proceeding has been reset multiple times and is now a first fixing which he does not foresee resolving. Counsel was advised to file an appropriate motion with the court if he anticipates needing relief from this potential conflict. In this regard, all counsel further advised the parties have been involved in significant discussions toward informal resolution and all appear optimistic settlement may be achieved. The court urged the parties to continue their efforts toward informal resolution and to contact chambers for assistance if all agree that would be helpful. The anticipated length of trial is 2 days.
