MINUTE entry before the Honorable Mary M. Rowland: On 4/7/26, the Court dismissed Plaintiff's complaint 1 and granted him leave to amend by 5/1/26. 10 . The Plaintiff failed to do so and on 5/15/26, the Court sua sponte granted Plaintiff an extension until 5/28/26 to file an amended complaint. 11 . The Court warned Plaintiff that if he failed to so, his case may be dismissed for failure to prosecute and failure to follow court orders. To date, the Plaintiff has not filed an amended complaint. The District Court has inherent authority to dismiss a case for failure to prosecute. Mojapelo v. Nat'l R.R. Passenger Corp., 748 F. App'x 68, 70 (7th Cir. 2019) (citing Link v. Wabash R.R. Co., 370 U.S. 636, 630-31 (1962)); James v. McDonald's Corp., 417 F.3d 672, 681 (7th Cir. 2005) ("Once a party invokes the judicial system by filing a lawsuit, it must abide by the rules of the court; a party cannot decide for itself when it feels like pressing its action and when it feels like taking a break.") (internal citations and quotations omitted); Harrington v. City of Chi., 433 F.3d 542, 549-50 (7th Cir. 2006) (affirming dismissal for failure to prosecute where district court gave explicit dismissal warning).
