Minute
MINUTE entry before the Honorable Nancy L. Maldonado: The Court has reviewed the parties' joint initial status report. 36 . The Court observes that, while the status report states that Shipman intends to file an answer, his deadline to do so already passed on 4/12/2024 (21 days from the Court's 3/22/2024 order). 35 . The Court notes that parties are not permitted to disregard or modify Court deadlines, even by agreement. Therefore, to the extent Shipman intends to answer past the Court-imposed deadline, he must file a motion for extension demonstrating good cause and must indicate whether Plaintiffs agree to the extension. As to the remainder of the status report, given that the parties agree to a discovery schedule, the Court will enter the parties' proposed schedule and refer the case to the assigned magistrate judge for discovery supervision. The Court strikes the 4/30/2024 status hearing and enters the following fact discovery schedule: Rule 26(a) initial disclosures due by 6/5/2024; first date to issue written discovery is 6/12/2024; fact discovery closes 12/17/2024. The Court defers setting an expert discovery or dispositive motion schedule at this time. The case is referred to Magistrate Judge McShain for discovery supervision and settlement matters. Judge McShain has authority to modify discovery deadlines and to set an expert discovery schedule, if and when requested. (ca, ) (Entered: 04/24/2024)
