DOJ Wants More Info On $4.9B WestRock-KapStone Deal

Law360 (April 16, 2018, 8:31 PM EDT) -- The U.S. Department of Justice has requested additional information regarding WestRock Co.’s proposed $4.9 billion acquisition of fellow packaging and paper materials company KapStone Paper and Packaging Corp., according to a pair of reports the companies filed Monday with the U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission.

The documents filed by the Atlanta-based paper and packaging supplier and its Illinois-based acquisition target say they received written requests from the DOJ Friday seeking “additional information and documentary materials” relating to the deal announced in January.
