Orange County Cities Immune From EMS Antitrust Lawsuit

Law360, Fort Wayne (April 3, 2017, 3:17 PM EDT) -- A California federal judge has dismissed an antitrust lawsuit against 12 Orange County cities, ruling they are immune from claims by ambulance service provider AmeriCare MedServices Inc., which alleged they monopolized the emergency medical services market in the area.

The cities are protected by U.S. Supreme Court precedent that exempts acts of state governments from antitrust liability, U.S. District Judge Josephine L. Staton said in a March 28 opinion.
