Yahoo Can Disclose Deceased's Emails, Mass. Justices Say

Law360, New York (October 16, 2017, 7:52 PM EDT) -- The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court held Monday that the Stored Communications Act allows Yahoo Inc. to disclose the contents of a deceased man’s email account to the personal representatives of his estate.

The state’s highest court vacated a probate and family court’s ruling that the SCA prohibits Yahoo from giving John Ajemian’s siblings, who are the personal representatives of his estate, access to the contents of an email account he left behind.
