Three states want to appeal to the D.C. Circuit a district court ruling that they missed the deadline for ratifying the Equal Rights Amendment to the U.S. Constitution and that they lacked standing to sue the federal archivist for refusing to publish and certify it.

Nevada, Illinois and Virginia ratified the Equal Rights Amendment too late for it to be officially added to the U.S. Constitution, a D.C. federal judge ruled Friday, holding that the states long ago missed deadlines set by Congress for ratifying the amendment.
