Jury Deadlocks In Pa. Public Defenders' Age-Bias Suit

Law360 (June 12, 2018, 8:47 PM EDT) -- A Pennsylvania federal jury has deadlocked over allegations the Allegheny County Office of the Public Defender passes over older attorneys for promotions and assigns them undesirable work, resulting in a mistrial.

Assistant public defenders Frank Ralph and Georgene Siroky will be able to present their age-discrimination case in a second trial scheduled for August after the first jury was unable to reach a decision Monday.

Ralph and Siroky filed suit in 2015 and alleged in their most recent complaint that the problems at the office began...
