NCAA Changes Transfer Rules After Student Challenges

Law360 (June 13, 2018, 8:19 PM EDT) -- The NCAA said Wednesday that Division I college athletes will be allowed to transfer to a different school and receive a scholarship without seeking permission from their current school, in a change to NCAA rules that have been the subject of student lawsuits.

According to the National Collegiate Athletic Association, beginning in October a new “notification of transfer” model will require schools to enter a student’s name into a national transfer database upon the student’s request, which would allow other coaches to contact the student....
