'Path To Citizenship' In Sight For H-1B Holders, Trump Says

Law360 (January 11, 2019, 8:02 PM EST) -- Changes to a visa program for foreign workers with advanced U.S. educational degrees may soon include a "potential path to citizenship," President Donald Trump tweeted Friday.

Amid the ongoing government shutdown, the announcement appears to indicate Trump's willingness to let "talented and highly skilled" foreign workers stay longer in the country, although it remains unclear whether they will be able to obtain permanent citizenship, as holders of H-1B visas can already apply for green cards.
